"I hope to deepen the connections and engagement within our alumni community -- something I've been committed to doing for my last years on the Alumni Board.

I want to help amplify our alumni voices by way of important Alumni Board initiatives, like diversity and inclusion, campus safety, and The Lavender Fund.

I also know our MCLA alumni community is facing unprecedented hardship as they look to secure and maintain jobs in the wake of COVID-19. I want to support our people in whatever way I can.

Above all else, I want to make sure the Alumni Board is working on causes and issues important to our alumni community. If you're reading this and there's something you want to talk about, please reach out!"

Dennis Ducharme '82

Student Clubs/ Orgs: RA, Orientation Group Leader, SGA, WJJW, Intern to Dean of Students administering student discipline cases, Intern to Admissions office administering summer transfer orientation program.

"My first hope for my remaining two years on the Board is to keep our momentum rolling with engagement efforts across the board; from getting more alumni back on campus, to jump starting regional events to holding more virtual events that became such a necessity during the pandemic. Alumni involvement has continued to grow year by year during my four years on the Board and I want to keep building on the progress.

The other thing I am especially excited about are the increasing number of Board initiatives that have a direct positive impact on current MCLA students. Among others ee have started work on alumni/student mentoring programs; led the way in supporting the funding of programs giving direct financial assistance to students in need during the pandemic and continued to support efforts to make MCLA a safe and welcoming place for all of our students. Supporting current students is a part of this Association’s mission that the current Board takes very seriously and I am proud of our efforts in that area."

Todd Foy '12

Student Clubs/ Orgs: SGA, Yorick, BGLAD (now QSU)

"I know that I can use my privilege and my experience to push the Board to be active in addressing issues on campus like systemic racism, sexual assault, and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community. I take pride in having helped students in the 1980s and later their children. I believe I know literally thousands of our graduates and am still friends with many. However, there are so many of them that are not involved with the college. This has to change! I am convinced that I can reach out to them and convince them to become a part of the MCLA community."

Kimberly Roberts-Morandi '91, '01, M.Ed. '00

Student Clubs/ Orgs: Intramurals

"First and foremost, I will always listen and learn as much as I can because that sets the stage to make good decisions. The experienced Board members have a lot to share with us and I am eager to hear more about how their current work supports the College's mission and vision. As a nation we continue to face challenges that affect the College community, and therefore, the students. It is of the utmost importance that the staff and students are able to live, learn, and work in a safe, supporting, and open environment that embraces individuality and equality. I hope that the work the Board engages in can lead, or where appropriate, support the campus community in its efforts to reinforce the College's values.

As a Board member, I also want to be involved in the ongoing activities that fundraise for current and future students. Providing an opportunity for future generations of MCLA alum is an obligation I, like countless others, take seriously."

Michael Obasohan '11

Student Clubs/ Orgs: Nexxus Step Team, Dance Company, a few harlequin shows and Black Student Union. I was a facilitator for Campus Conversations on Race and ALANA Club Council. I also served as an Orientation Leader and a Peer Advisor.

"Connecting alumni to current students attending MCLA is what I want to accomplish on the board this year. During my years at MCLA, I had very few connections with alumni and I often wonder what my life would be like if I connected early and often to Alumni that look like me. There were very few positions I saw myself in, but there were people that came into my life that have taught me I can do anything I set my mind to. I want to create this opportunity for students now.

I will be doing this with the lens of diversity and inclusion. Creating and opening up opportunities for students of color to establish a sense of belonging at MCLA. Showing POC's that, Yes, we also work in companies, own business, and have graduate degrees. We have a great Black Alumni network to show off and its time to showcase our talent."

Theresa O'Bryant '86

Student Clubs/ Orgs: Board of Directors for the Northern Berkshire United Way; Cive President and Governance Committee Chair of the Board of Trustees of Agassiz Village

"I am invested in making a difference for our current and future MCLA students. I think the Alumni Association is an important opportunity to engage MCLA alums in the work of giving back to an institution that gave us all a valuable and important starting point in our professional lives. Nowadays, achieving a college degree is harder than ever. MCLA students will benefit from the support and relationships an engaged alumni ensures."

Krista Roche '08

Student Clubs/ Orgs: SGA President, SGA Treasurer, Peer Advisor, Admissions Tour Guide & Ambassador, AASC, Shakespeare Club, Pi Upsilon Omega Sorority.

"I've spent the last 12 years working for the MA Attorney General's Office in different consumer protection and investigatory roles. Due to my caseload, ethics code and political constraints of working for an elected official, I was unable to give my time and efforts. Sitting on the Alumni Board is something I've always wanted to do post-graduation, especially having served as President of SGA in my time at MCLA. Now that I've taken a leap of faith into the private sector, I want to give back and provide my knowledge, expertise and experiences to make MCLA a better, stronger community of support. I wouldn't be in the position I am today without MCLA, I am forever grateful. Please accept my sincerest and humble self-nomination for the Board."

Carol K. Spector '82

Carol offers significant professional career development experience and would be able to assist the Alumni Association in continuing to build career development programs for alumni and current students. "Everything I am, in both my personal and professional life, is because of the time I spent as a student at MCLA. The knowledge I gained, support I received, and community I was apart of truly changed my life for the better and I want to make sure that current and future students are afforded the same opportunities I had. As a member of the MCLA Alumni Board of Directors, I will work hard to ensure that the MCLA community is stronger than it has ever been. Using my professional experience and educational background, I aim to step-up the college's commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Incusion and strengthen the relationship between the MCLA & North Adams community, all while doing my best to assure that ALL students, faculty, and staff thrive.

When I think of the best way to give back to the place that gave me so much, the Alumni Board of Directors is the perfect opportunity, and I hope I am afforded the chance to join the group in helping to make MCLA, its students, and the alumni association stronger than ever."
