nATIONAL vOLUNTEER mONTH 2022

April is national volunteer month, and the Alumni Association is setting a big goal for 2022: we want to see alumni working together to volunteer 128 hours in their local communities to show that #MCLACares! Why 128? The College is celebrating its 128th anniversary in 2022. What better way to celebrate than to connect with alumni in your area and give back to the community?

Project Update: We hit our goal! Alumni reported 178 hours of volunteer time during the month of April! Amazing!

Highlights:

  • Kathy Heaps Kessler ‘74 and Jeannie Alford Mark ’74 spent the day volunteering with Grace Place Town in Naples, Florida during the organization’s Family Literacy Day!  They hosted a “Cornhole Wordle” booth that helped the children with their reading skills.

  • Members of the MCLA Alumni Association Board of Directors volunteered their time on a mural project hosted during the Campus Day of Service.

  • Elizabeth Mach '79 spent time volunteering with the Adams Council on Aging, Berkshire Food Project, and the Western MA Food Bank.

  • Paul Siekman '84 spent a morning assembling lunches for St. Joseph's Shelter in Hyannis, MA.
